ColonyTrack uses cookies and similar storage only where they are needed for the app to work or to count visits. We do not run advertising trackers, build behavioural profiles, or sell data to third parties. This page lists exactly what we set and why.
A cookie is a small file that a website saves on your device to remember something about you the next time you visit, like that you are signed in. The app also uses related storage technologies (localStorage, IndexedDB) for the same kinds of purposes. We treat them the same way in this policy.
The marketing site (the pages under colonytrack.app) sets no first-party cookies of its own and does not authenticate visitors.
With your consent, we load Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which pages are useful. Analytics scripts only run after you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you reject or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| ct-cookie-consent (localStorage) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected the analytics banner so it does not re-appear | Until you clear browser storage |
| _ga (Google Analytics, set only after consent) | Distinguishes one visitor from another, anonymised | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_<property> (Google Analytics, set only after consent) | Maintains session state for the marketing site's GA4 property | Up to 2 years |
We have IP anonymisation enabled and do not link analytics to any other Google product. Inside our native iPhone and Android apps the banner does not appear; the app loads in its own bundle and does not set marketing-site cookies.
When you sign in to the app, ColonyTrack sets the following first-party items. All are strictly necessary for the app to function.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| NextAuth session | Keeps you signed in across page loads | 30 days, or until you sign out |
| CSRF token | Protects sign-in forms from cross-site request forgery | Session |
| Onboarding state (localStorage) | Remembers your progress through the first-run walkthrough | Until cleared |
| Offline cache (IndexedDB) | Stores your hive data locally so the app loads instantly | Until you sign out or clear browser storage |
When you start a paid subscription on the web, you are sent to Stripe Checkout. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own pages to prevent fraud and complete the purchase. We do not control or share those cookies. Stripe describes them in its Cookies Policy.
On the iPhone app, subscriptions go through Apple's in-app purchase. On Android, through Google Play. Neither involves cookies on our site.
Reject analytics on the cookie banner if you would rather not be counted. Your
choice is remembered locally so the banner does not re-appear. To change your mind
later, clear the ct-cookie-consent item in your browser's local
storage (or clear site data for colonytrack.app) and reload the page; the banner
will show again so you can pick again.
You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the first-party session cookie on the app will sign you out and prevent you from signing back in until you allow it. The marketing site continues to work normally with cookies disabled.
On iPhone and Android, the app uses platform storage instead of browser cookies. Clearing the app's data on the device resets that storage.
If we add a cookie or a new third-party service that sets one, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also appear in the changelog.
